Students Support Guide Dogs With Sponsored Walk

Cleethorpes Academy Fancy Dress Sponsored Walk in aid of Guide Dogs. "Spice Girls" (l-r) Holly Rowntree, Tilly Newell, Scarlet Drinkell, Megan Munton and Chloe Winter are pictured with Jane Wilson, a volunteer with Guide Dogs, and guide dogs Hilary and Yvette.

Cleethorpes Academy students dressed up to raise money for Guide Dogs by walking as many laps of the school field as they could manage. The Academy has raised thousands of pounds for the charity in recent years with this annual event.

Jane Wilson, a volunteer with Guide Dogs, who took guide dogs Hilary and Yvette to the Academy to support the students, said: "The money raised today will go towards the training and upkeep of a guide dog, which costs £75,000 from puppy to retirement. It's wonderful that Cleethorpes Academy put this event on. It really means a lot to us."

Janice Hornby, Cleethorpes Academy Principal, said: "We are always very happy to support this extremely worthy cause, and every year the students get involved and do their very best to raise as much money as possible. I am very proud of them all."
