New Term January 2020

Ref: JCH/CN

10 January 2020

Dear Parent/Carer

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year as we welcome students back to the Academy after the Christmas break.

Uniform

To ensure a positive start to 2020 for students I would like to remind parents of specific aspects of our uniform policy. Students must wear full Academy uniform each day and this is detailed in the student planner and on our website. I would specifically like to remind parents of the following:

  • Trousers - Black smart tailored trousers. These must not be cropped or tight fitting.
  • Shoes - Shoes should be black and flat. Trainers, trainer style shoes, canvas shoes or boots are not acceptable.
  • Ties - All students should wear an Academy tie.
  • Jumpers - A plain black, logo free jumper may be worn under the blazer. Hoodies are not acceptable
  • Make-up - Discreet make-up is permitted in Year 11 only. It is not allowed in any other year groups.

Behaviour

On occasions where a student's behaviour falls below the standard expected, a range of sanctions may be imposed. If students are placed into the Academy Social Inclusion Unit they will remain on site until 3:45pm.

We are always looking at ways to support students to make the right choice in life. This term we will be welcoming an outside company who will be delivering antibullying assemblies to all students in years 7-10. The company use life stories to talk to the students about this topic. Some of the content may be upsetting and should you wish for your child to be excused from the assemblies please contact the Academy before Monday 3 February 2020.

Star Student

Congratulations to Ellie-Mae Golding, Ashton Smith and Deia Hassan for being awarded my star students in the Autumn term. The Star Student initiative continues to be successful with each teacher choosing their own 'Star' each week. I look forward to seeing many more awarded.

Yours faithfully
