Acting Out Future Options Inspires Students To Look More Closely At Further Education

Performance In Education actors Kymberley Cochrane, Katie Tripp and Rob Land, perform with Cleethorpes Academy Year 8 students: (l-r) Noah Silvester, Phoebe Chesman, Emily Oswin and George Worrall.

Laying out their options through dance and drama gave students at Cleethorpes Academy an inspirational view of the opportunities available to them through Further and Higher Education.

Three actors from Performance In Education performed 'Steps to Success' at the Academy on behalf of the University of Hull. 'Steps to Success' aims to raise achievement and develop aspirations, which it says are crucial to enabling students to make the most of their opportunities in education.

Actor Rob Land said: "Through a lively combination of drama, comedy, music and dance we explore the variety of options available to students after GCSEs. We demystify the array of courses and qualifications, and we signpost directions for help, support and guidance. Whether their future lies in Vocational Learning, Higher Education or in seeking a job with training, we offer the opportunity to explore solutions and make informed choices."

Year 8 student Phoebe Chesman said: "It was funny and it showed me that there are lots of options when you leave school. I learnt about Further Education and it made me think about what I can do. I think I would like to go into Design and Textiles."
