Academy Performs Its 'Greatest Show'

This was the greatest show - especially for relatives and friends of students at Cleethorpes Academy, who opened their spectacular Christmas Concert with a song from the most popular musical of the year.

More than 150 students are taking extra Music tuition at Cleethorpes Academy, alongside the curriculum, and Principal Janice Hornby said the concert showcased many of their talents. It opened with Cleethorpes Academy Choir and Dancers performing 'The Greatest Show' (from The Greatest Showman).

Performing musical numbers throughout were members of Cleethorpes Academy Band, Cleethorpes Academy Brass Band, Cleethorpes Academy Choir, Cleethorpes Academy Chorus, Cleethorpes Academy Dancers, the Ukulele Ensemble and the Cheerleading Group.

Issabella Broddle sang a beautiful version of 'A Million Dreams' (also from the Greatest Showman) supported by the Cheerleading Group.

Sophie Brett performed a violin solo to 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and Cleethorpes Chorus and the Ukulele Ensemble performed 'Walking In The Air.' Max Osgothorpe performed 'Jingle Bells' on trumpet.

The concert ended with a rousing version of 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' performed by Cleethorpes Academy Band.

Mrs Hornby said: "Music enriches students' lives and education and greatly contributes to a child's development. We are very proud of our wide range of talented students. This was a fabulous concert."
