19 December 2017
As we approach the Christmas holiday I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and reflect on some of the many successes this term.
Our first ever Cleethorpes Academy Christmas concert was held at the Academy on Monday 18 December. I was extremely proud to see such a large number of talented students take part. Music and Performing Arts has grown significantly in recent years and greatly enhances personal development and confidence.
On Wednesday 13 December we welcomed 90 grandparents to join their Year 7 grandchildren for an afternoon at the Academy. Grandparents play an increasingly important part in the lives of students. Our Year 7 thoroughly enjoyed creating festive items with their grandparents in the Technology and Art departments. The afternoon concluded with tea and biscuits whilst being entertained by a selection of songs by our choir.
As parents/carers may be purchasing some extra items of uniform over the Christmas break can I take this opportunity to remind you of certain aspects of our uniform policy. Students should wear black shoes not boots, and not trainers or canvas shoes. If a jumper is required in the colder months a plain black V neck sweater can be worn underneath their blazer. Full details of our uniform policy are in the student planner and on our website. Year 11 are permitted to wear discreet make-up. Students in the lower years will be asked to remove any make-up and disciplinary sanctions will be put in place for repeat offenders.
On the last day of term, Wednesday 20 December 2017 we will be holding a non-uniform day in aid of charity. Students are asked to contribute £1 and in return they will be able to attend in non-uniform. Please note that this does not include fancy dress and students inappropriately dressed will be asked to return home to change, however Christmas jumpers are encouraged.
Year 11 Prom 2018
This year the Prom will be held at the Brackenborough Hotel on Thursday 21 June 2018. Further details will be sent in January.
The new term starts on Wednesday 3 January 2017.
Finally, may I thank you for your continued support and on behalf of all the staff at the Academy wish you a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Mrs J C Hornby
