Cleethorpes Christmas Concert returns

Cleethorpes Academy brought back their Christmas Concert with a bang and a huge array of talent.

Hosts for the evening Louie and Reyna introduced the evening after a fantastic opener from the Dance Team to The Greatest Show, organised by Miss Moore.

Next was Iris Neal, performing a solo dance to Pencil Full of Lead followed by a violin solo from Eva Ibbotson. She has been playing the instrument for four years and chose to play the French piece, Chiquilin de Bachin.

The Full Cast from Cleethorpes Academy then performed a clever arrangement of the Christmas classic, Ding Dong Merrily on High.

Mia Hewitt (Y11) and Keelah Lamming (Y11) danced a well-executed tap duet to The Other Side from The Greatest Showman.

The choir then invited the audience to join in with festive classics Away in a Manger and 12 Days of Christmas. The audience participation was fantastic, with each day of the song given to a section of the audience.

The Dance Team performed a moving dance to What Was I Made For followed by a solo on the piano from Year 9 student Isaac Lavric, playing New Kid. Isaac has recently grained his Grade 7 on piano and gave an impressive performance.

The grand finale of the evening was a Winter Fantasy song by the Full Cast, an original piece created by Vice Principal Nicola Law. This combined Jingle Bells and Winter Fantasy and made for a fantastic closer to a brilliantly entertaining show.

Principal Janice Hornby said: “From the smiling faces, it’s clear that they all thoroughly enjoyed doing it. They put hours and hours of practice into these performances and I do think it’s really paid off.

I would like to thank the staff who put in so many hours of preparation with our students to create such a fantastic Christmas Concert. I’d also like to thank parents and relatives who came to support the students and I can tell that we’re all immensely proud of them tonight.”
