Additional Funding

Cleethorpes Academy receives additional funding: Catch-Up Funding, to support students who joined the Academy below standard in 4 in Maths and/or reading in Year 7.

The Academy will primarily focus the Catch-Up Funding to accelerate progress and increase outcomes at the end of Year 7.

In 2016-2017 the Academy will receive £21,802 of Catch-Up Funding (42 students).

The range of provision includes:

  • Reduced class sizes to improve opportunities and outcomes.
  • One to one or paired group reading lessons

In 2015-2016, the Academy received £20,500. The impact of the funding is as follows:

  • Average progress 1.6
  • Average reading at end of Year 7 - 10.97
  • 80.5% of students made some progress

Literacy

Reading ages (Students tested in September 2015 and then at 6 monthly intervals)

  • 73% of the students improved their reading age at a faster rate than expected.
  • 66% of students improved at twice the expected rate
  • 53% of students improved by three times the expected rate
  • 44% of students improved by four times or more than the expected rate

100% of students now have a reading age of 10 or higher.

Progress in English (based on the national expected progress rate).

  • 75% of students made expected progress in Year 7 at February 2016 from their KS2 starting point
  • 20% of students made more than expected progress in Year 7 from their KS2 starting point
  • 2% of students made exceptional progress in Year 7 from their KS2 starting point

Disadvantaged

  • 61% of students made expected progress.
  • 15% of students made more than expected progress

Numeracy

Progress in Maths (based on the national expected progress)

  • 81% of students made expected progress in Year 7 from their KS2 starting point
  • 9% of students made more than expected progress in Year 7 from their KS2 starting point

Disadvantaged

  • 68% of students made expected progress
  • 4% of students made more than expected progress
